Overview & Background

FormulaFolios Investments (FFI) is an investment firm that services independent advisors and advisory firms. FFI is a bit unique in that it offers a digital platform for its advisors. This digital platform includes the “Advisor Portal” (AP), which is the primary web application for financial advisors. The primary purpose for AP is to provide advisors with essential documentation and open accounts digitally for their clients.

The Problem

There were a few issues with the overall layout and UI elements of AP:

• Side navigation - A fine choice for most websites, but AP has a lot of tables that need as much horizontal space as possible

• Typography hierarchy - The overall type structure seemed to lack hierarchy and structure

• General inconsistencies across the site - UI elements were often inconsistent across the site (i.e. some input forms had labels, some did not; links with different styling, inaccessible design)

The Solution

• Re-structure the site with a top navigation

• Create more hierarchy with typography, backgrounds, and other design elements
